Read at 2026-09-30 11:12 UTC through our own keyless relay, and refreshed at most every five minutes. This is the price of a token backed one for one by the share, which trades continuously; it is not the exchange last trade. Any figure quoted from this page is accurate as of that time and not afterwards.

Take rate is the number the whole business turns on

PayPal earns a small percentage of what passes through it, and that percentage has been falling for years as the mix shifts toward larger merchants and lower-margin processing. Volume can grow strongly while revenue does not, which is the single most common way this company is misread. Watch the gap between the two before concluding a quarter was good.

It competes with the checkout button, not just with other wallets

Every large merchant would rather own its own checkout, and every platform would rather embed its own payments. PayPal's advantage is that buyers already have an account and trust it; its risk is that the alternative is one line of someone else's code. This is a slow, structural contest, and the share reprices whenever a piece of evidence about it lands.

What a backed token gives you and what it costs you

An issuer buys the share, holds it with a custodian, and issues a token against it. There is something faintly circular about buying a payments company through a payment rail it does not run, and it is worth noticing: you get continuous pricing and fast settlement, and you take a counterparty that PayPal has nothing to do with.

The part we cannot verify

We read the token's price, its traded volume and the value of tokens in issue. We do not audit the custody behind it. The price was checked against the exchange's last close when this page was built and matched to the cent. For the official price, use Nasdaq or a broker.
