Dogecoin price, live, and why its supply matters
The dogecoin price on this page is a perpetual contract price read live from the order book, and the section below on supply is the part that most changes how the number should be read over long periods.
Read from the exchange as this page rendered. A perpetual contract on dogecoin, not a spot quote, with the funding that keeps the two together.

Dogecoin has no supply cap, and that is the structural difference
Bitcoin stops at twenty-one million. Dogecoin does not stop: a fixed number of new coins is issued every block, forever, which makes its supply growth a small but permanent percentage each year. That does not make it a worse asset, and it does make the comparison people reach for a misleading one. A scarcity argument that works for bitcoin does not transfer, and any long-horizon reading of the price above should account for a denominator that keeps growing.
Funding as a crowding measure on a sentiment asset
Dogecoin moves on attention more visibly than most markets, and the funding rate is the cleanest number for watching that happen. When attention arrives, leveraged longs arrive with it, funding turns positive, and holding the position starts costing money every interval. That cost is often the thing that ends the move rather than any change in the asset, which is why funding is worth reading beside the price rather than after it.
Open interest in coins, not dollars
The open interest above is counted in DOGE, and on a sub-dollar asset that produces a very large number for a modest position. Multiply it by the mark price before comparing it to anything else. This is a common misreading and it flatters low-priced assets in every table that does not do the arithmetic.
Why a perpetual exists on it at all
A perpetual needs enough two-sided interest to keep a book, and dogecoin has that in unusual abundance for an asset with no cash flows and no cap. The market is there because the positioning demand is there. That is worth stating plainly rather than implying the contract's existence is itself a signal of anything.
