Chainlink price, live, from a book that depends on oracles
The chainlink price on this page is a live perpetual contract price, and it is quoted by a venue that uses oracle feeds to mark and liquidate positions, which makes the relationship between this token and this number more circular than most.
Read from the exchange as this page rendered. A perpetual contract on LINK, quoted by a venue that itself relies on oracle prices to mark positions.

An oracle token, priced through an oracle
Chainlink exists to deliver off-chain prices to on-chain contracts. The perpetual above is marked against an oracle price, which is the same category of infrastructure. That circularity is not a problem and it is worth noticing: the mark price beside the mid is the venue's reference, and the gap between them is the clearest everyday illustration of what an oracle actually does, on a page about the token that does it.
Mark price is what liquidates you, not the mid
Two numbers above look almost identical and do different jobs. The mid is the midpoint of the live book. The mark is the venue's reference, usually smoothed and drawn from several sources, and it is the one that decides margin and liquidation. A thin book can print a mid far from the mark for a moment; positions are not closed on that print. Anyone sizing a position should watch the mark.
Why the two can separate
A mid moves the instant somebody crosses the spread. A mark is deliberately slower, because a reference that could be moved by one aggressive order would make liquidations trivial to trigger on purpose. That slowness is a feature, and the distance between mid and mark on this page is a live reading of how much smoothing is being applied right now.
What this price is not
It is not the spot price of LINK and it is not the price any oracle is publishing to a contract. It is one perpetual book's quote at page render, useful as a reading of leveraged positioning and not as a settlement price for anything.
